The Magic of Ordinary Days

I watched a video the other day that showed a mom reading a story about the magic of ordinary days. The mom talked about how we document all the special moments in our children's lives and we are always so busy running here and there with our kiddos that we often feel crazy, but when we look back on things the happiest moments were just the ordinary days. Moments when you get an "I love you" for no reason, or a hug and kiss just because. Moments that you find the dishwasher loaded without asking, or the house picked up just because. Moments that you hear your kids upstairs laughing and playing, or playing outside in the pool. Moments when it's raining outside but everyone lays around eating popcorn and watching movies inside, or when your babies snuggle up to you in bed. These are the moments where our most precious memories are made. These are the moments that makes us family. These are the memories you look back on when your kids are grown and it's just you and your hubby in a house that is suddenly to quiet and eating at a table for six that suddenly is to big for just two. The special moments are important and should be documented but the magic is what happens on just ordinary days.

Corbin's last band concert

Tuesday night was Corbin's last band concert...for high school at least. I have done really well this year about not crying at everything because it was his senior year but on that last song the floodgates opened! I looked at all these band kids that we have grown to love over the last seven years of band and realized this was the last time they would ever play together....I may start crying again!!! This group is really talented. Several of them received band scholarships and will continue to play in college. Our son has chosen to major in music education and become a band director. We are so proud of him.

They recognized all the seniors.
Ryan had to work :( so It was just me and Corbs for pictures.
Proud Papa and Meme
Proud Grandpa and Mam
Proud Grampy and Noni
Grandpa and Grandma are very proud also but they have 4 grandsons graduating this year so they are in Ohio watching our twin nephews graduate this week. Can you imagine 4 in one year!!!

It was a great night and a beautiful performance to end his last seven years of band.

Logan's Last T-Ball Game

Last night was Logan's last t-ball game for this year :(. We will be back next year. He loved playing T-ball.
Ryan had a blast helping with Logan's team this year. I love watching the two them enjoying baseball together. Ryan is a good Daddy.
He is telling him to put his glove back on!
I think Ryan had as much fun as Logan!
He liked playing in the outfield. He also liked throwing his glove in the air, picking grass and throwing it on his head, dancing, and throwing dirt on the other team while on the field. (He got his butt swatted several times for throwing dirt at the other team...he said they were cheating!)
Logan loved when it was his turn to bat. Coach Brian was so patient with all these little ones. He was great with the kids.

He liked running the bases and seeing his Daddy at second base.

Logan's FAVORITE thing about t-ball was sliding into home....he slid every time!!!!
My favorite part of t-ball was seeing these men lead these little children in prayer after each game.
T-ball season was a blast and we made lots of new friends...we can't wait for next season. I hope next year he will stop playing in the chalk...he is covered head to toe with chalk after EVERY game!

Anniversary 2015

Today is our anniversary. Ryan and I have been married for 16 years. I met Ryan in 5th grade at the skating rink. We shared a pickle and he was my "boyfriend" for most of 5th grade. We became best friends. We talked on the phone, we hung out, we even went on double dates!!! One day in 1990 everything changed. Ryan and I finally realized we had become more than just best friends and we began dating. 1990...that's 25 years that there has been a "Casey and Ryan"! I've been with Ryan for over half my life. We spent a few years apart during college...we realized quickly we make bad decisions apart...we are great together.
Ryan and I began dating again shortly after his father died. We knew quickly we never wanted to be apart again! He proposed in a very romantic way and we were married May 15, 1999.
I love this man more and more everyday. He works so hard for his family and never complains. He put me through college and helped me realize my dream of becoming a teacher. We blended our boys and added to our family. He loved Corbin from the start and was so proud when he adopted him. He held me and cried with me when we lost our angel baby. He held my hand and rubbed my back and grinned from ear to ear as we brought our boys into this world. He melts me when I see him with our boys. He is an amazing father and husband and I'm so lucky he is mine.
We have weathered losing loved ones, raising a child with a disability, co-parenting with Braden's mom, building a house, job changes, and just raising 4 boys!!!! I can't imagine doing this with anyone else. He completes me. I am so in love with this man and so proud to be his wife.
Everyone has a love story but ours is my favorite.  Happy Anniversary Ryan!!!

My greatest blessings

It is the day before Mother's Day and I am thinking about my four greatest blessings. They are my world. Life can be tough at times and these four are what keep me going. A horrible day can turn around with just a kiss, hug, or "I Love You Mom" from one of my boys. They are by far my greatest achievement and will be my lasting legacy of my brief time on this Earth. I am not a perfect mom...far from it, but I am trying my best to raise them to be good Christian men. They fill our home with love, laughter, and a lot of dirt...they are all boys!! I am so glad God chose me to be their Mom.

He is my first born and the first person to ever call me Mom. He is our jokester and is always playing tricks on everyone. He loves the Lord and has never been shy about letting you know it. He is my most independent child and always has been. He will be going away to college soon and although it will break my heart to let him go, I know that he is ready and will be fine. He is a wonderful big brother to all four of his younger brothers. I am so blessed to be his mother.

Braden is technically my stepson but I hate that word...the only steps in my home are my stairs! He did not grow beneath my heart but in my heart. He is an amazing young man and stole my heart from the moment we met. He has lived his entire life going between homes on weekends, summers, and holidays. He has siblings on both sides and he is such a good brother to all his siblings. He is my son and I love him very much. It has not always been easy but Cindy (Braden's mom) and I have found a way to make all this work because in the end we all love this amazing young man. I'm thankful that she shares her son with me and thank God for allowing me to be his mom.
Trent is my miracle boy. He has overcome obstacles I can't even imagine and amazes me every day. Trent has touched so many lives in his 14 years. He made us an official family, no more yours, mine, but everyone became OURS!!! His autism has made all of us look at the world differently. He has the sweetest heart and is really funny. He doesn't show a lot of affection because of his autism so when he does I know it's a big deal. There will be people in this world who will dismiss Trent because he is different and I hate that for them because they are missing out on an amazing person. God has a special plan for my Trent and I am so glad I was chosen to be this boys Mom.

Logan is my baby. He is my last child and has been a huge blessing to our family. He keeps me on my toes and always makes me laugh. The older boys spoil him rotten and he loves his big brothers. He is Daddy's shadow until bedtime and then he wants his Momma! He is a Momma's boy and I love it. He is a happy child who loves life!!! It is hard to not be happy when your around Logan. I am so glad God made me his Mom.

I am a lucky girl to have all these boys!!! I have many titles...wife, daughter, sister, teacher, but my favorite one is MOM.
