The graduation ceremony was held at Moores Lane First Baptist Church. The students were given 5 tickets!!! We applied for 1 extra ticket and they gave each student 1 extra ticket. Corbin has 4 sets of grandparents who love and adore him...we didn't know what to do. We decided that 2 tickets would go to Ryan and I and each set of grandparents would each get 1 ticket. The grandparents had to decide which one would get to go! It was heartbreaking!
Corbin was my first born to graduate and I had no idea what to expect. Thank goodness my good friend Cora helped me through it. Cora's son graduated last year and her daughter graduated this year, so she told me everything to expect, like what time to get there and the best spots to sit.
We got there at 12:30 for a 2:00 ceremony and the line already wrapped around the building!!! It was HOT!!! We finally made it inside and found our seats. The kids marched in and the ceremony began. I listened to the speeches and looked through the sea of black hats to find my boy. Then they started calling names...it took 45 minutes just to get through the names!!! Then I heard that magic name...Corbin Kell Foster....I was grinning from ear to ear and crying a river. It was so exciting watching him cross the stage and receive his diploma.
And then it was over...it's over, my baby is a high school graduate!
We made our way through the sea of people. I smiled at the other parents and mouthed "congratulations", but all I could think about was finding my son! We finally found him and I was able to hug his neck.
We rushed back to Maud to get ready for his party. We decided to throw a party afterwards for all the family to celebrate Corbin since they couldn't attend the actual ceremony. The party was a blast.
The party was a huge success and I could not have pulled it off without the help of my mom, Aunt Rebecca, my best friend Sarah known to my boys as Aunt Sarah (her friendship means more to me than she will ever know...she's my person), and Ryan's wallet!
We fell into bed that night we were all so exhausted! The next day our church Rock Creek Baptist Church honored our Senior graduates. I pray that Corbin always has a strong relationship with God.
I am so thankful I have been able to share in this milestone in Corbin's life and can't wait to see what his future holds. I like the saying...don't cry because it's over but be happy that it happened.
Daddy and I could not be prouder of you Corbin. You are everything we dreamed you would be and more! You have all of our love always and forever my child.
