Happy Birthday Braden

Braden is 17 today!!!! I can't believe my sweet, little red head boy is 17 and a Junior in high school. The years have gone by too fast. Braden is technically my step son but we don't have steps in our house except the stairs!! I am so blessed to be able to be apart of this young man's life. When he was little I always told him that he didn't grow in my belly, he grew in my heart...and that is the truth. I miss not being with him on his birthday but we will celebrate when he gets here Spring Break. We love you RED!!!

"Snow" much fun 2015!

The weather was predicting snow to start sometime after midnight so I thought we would wake up to a winter wonderland. Ryan and I woke up to the phone buzzing at 6 am to let us know that school was cancelled for today! I opened the blinds and waited for the snow!!! Logan stood at the window all morning and finally he screamed....it's snowing!!!!!
Then our little impatient boy was ready RIGHT THEN to go play!!! I bundled him up...he looked like the kid from A Christmas Story!
I had to get pictures of the beautiful snow.

We played baseball...everyone plays baseball in the snow..right?!?!

We took pictures, threw snowballs, built a snowman, and made snow angels.

Finally, the teenagers woke up to play!!!!
Trent and his buddies were so excited about snow day.
My boys playing in the snow.

My nephew Christopher called and invited us to go sledding at Lake Wright Patman spillway. We loaded up in his 4 wheel drive and off we went! Liz is only a week away from her due date so she had to watch but Lilly will be so worth it!!!!
Corbin went first to make sure it was safe! I wasn't worried because we have an heir and several spares!!!!
I have great videos but I can't upload them here :(. Ryan and I went and my brother, sister-in-law, Corbin, and my nephews Conner, Ian, and Chris. Logan tried but flipped and rolled and said No More!!! We had a blast!!!! The ride down was FUN but the steep walk back up was a killer....I'm a survivor!
My brother, Jamey, flipped and came back Mr. Snowbeard!
Snow Day 2015 has been awesome and the icing on the cake is.....no school tomorrow!!!! They even called it tonight so I don't have to set an alarm!!! Life is good...today, I probably will feel differently when I have to make up our snow days! I am going to snuggle with my baby and eat snow ice cream...it would just be a waste if you didn't make snow ice cream!!!!

Pageant week

It's pageant week at our house. The 2015 Miss Maud pageant is on Saturday, February 28. We practice all week and on Saturday it's show time!

I love pageants...I grew up doing pageants. I know there is lots of controversy concerning pageants but for me it was a positive, fun experience. I enjoy helping with the Miss Maud pageant because I want to see little girls have just as much fun as I remember when I was a little girl. Public speaking was easy for me because of pageant interviews. Do I agree with the Toddlers and Tiaras version of pageantry...not so much. Those moms are cra cra at times. I enjoy healthy competition not cheating, and meanness. It is usually not the girls that cause drama in pageantry but the moms.

There are several women who work very hard to make the Miss Maud pageant happen every year and I am blessed that they are my friends. We work hard to make sure the pageant is organized and fair for everyone. We spend a lot of time on the pageant...it seriously is a whole year production! Our family's help too, husbands, kids, it's a team effort.

I did lots of pageants over the years but the titles I loved the most were from my small hometown pageant of Maud. I'm sad that I don't have a daughter to share pageants with but I am glad that I get to spend at least a week with the sweet girls getting ready for the pageant.

Whenever I show my pageant pictures to my boys I'm always reminded of a quote from Birdee Pruitt in the movie Hope Floats...Once upon a time your Momma knew what it meant to shine!

Valentines 2015

Valentines day 2015 has been a two day affair. The celebration began Friday at school. It was Friday 13th and a party day so I was expecting a crazy day!!!! I was pleasantly surprised at how wonderful the day turned out to be. My sweet first graders showered me with lots of love. Mrs. Sheffield has a student who decided to hold a contest yesterday to decide which teacher he should give a gift to...this kiddo is a funny kid. He was serious about this contest and informed me this morning that I won as he presented me with a $1 bill! I tried to give the money back but he would not have it. He was so excited to give this to me. It was precious!!!
The kiddos had a great party but WAY too many sweets!!! We played a fun "minute to win it" game and the kids loved it.
I helped Logan make his Valentines on Friday night. He chose cards for all of his family and then asked if he could give one to our neighbor Jake and our neighbors the Denton's. He walked Jakes over but he was not home so he left it with his sister. The Denton's loved his little card and hugged his neck. My baby then asked if he could take his leftover cards to Wal-Mart tomorrow when we get groceries and hand out to people!!! He truly is one of the sweetest kids ever!

I set out my babies presents for them to find Valentines morning.

Ryan's goodies. We always exchange monkies...it's our thing.
Corbin's  goodies ..my boy loves candy! His gift is small because we just paid off his band trip and booked Senior pictures. Senior year is EXPENSIVE!!!!
Trenton's goodies. Trent loves dogs.
Logan's goodies. He LOVES paw patrol right now.
I hope they like their goodies. I love to spoil my boys.

Ryan and Logan surprised me this morning with donuts and a giant teddy bear and chocolates.
Logan delivered his Valentines to his family and friends. He loves to go to the donut shop and see his "girlfriend". He took her a valentine and she was so surprised. She gave Logan a rose and I got a sweet picture...she is a good sport and so sweet to my baby.
We took MeMe to town and took her to lunch at McAlisters Deli so we could see our Corbin.

We went to Wal-Mart to get groceries and he passed his last ten cards to random people. I loved the surprise on their faces as this sweet 4 year old handed them a card and said "happy valentines day"!

We picked up Namman's BBQ to surprise my sweet hubby for dinner before he goes to work. I think I'll end the day with a glass of wine and a big bubble bath. It has been a perfect Valentines Day with my loves.

Mardi Gras Parade

I have never been to a Mardi Gras parade      but yesterday we attended the parade in Texarkana. It was a perfect day to enjoy being outside and having fun. Corbin was at work, and Trent had spent the night with a friend, so it was just our little bitty and us. My parents joined in on the fun.
Logan was so excited all morning after we told him we were going to a parade. I found these photos that he took while I was getting ready...he is a selfie king!!!

We tried to get crawfish but after standing in line for 15 minutes and only taking 2 steps we threw in the towel! The lines were horribly long for everything! There were tons of kids activities but Logan could not take the lines...okay maybe it was mommy couldn't take the lines! Logan loved the masks and just had to have one!
We found our spot and waited for the BEADS!
My mommy and me are a little wind blown...it was a beautiful, windy day!
They were laughing about something. I love these two so much!
Little man was ready to get some beads.
We caught several beads but i thought my Beverly Goldberg mommy side was going to go off on a couple of ladies who needed to be reminded that they were snatching and fighting for beads with a four year old!!!! Cra, cra people don't know me like that!!! I don't play like that when my babies are involved! I get it from my mom...she was ready to whack one woman with Logan's foam sword if she stepped in front of him one more time!!!! I think we scared the people around us sufficiently because the boy made out like a bandit with his bead haul! Ryan caught one and there was a lady on one special float that made direct eye contact with my Daddy and threw beads directly at him in the very back!

We had a blast at our first Mardi Gras Parade.
